Deleting your account and your data

How to request the deletion of your Applyra account, what happens to your data afterwards, and what to cancel first if you still have a subscription.

Video transcript

Deleting your account is one button, at the bottom of the Account screen. On Unlimited, cancel first, from Manage Billing. The deletion request doesn't touch your subscription, which would keep renewing. Then request the deletion. You confirm once, and you're signed out right away. Your account data is removed within 30 days. Payment records stay as long as tax law requires, and analytics data up to 24 months. Changed your mind? Say so before the request is processed. Often, something smaller does the job: switch off the emails, cancel to go back to the free plan, or restart a paused account in one click.

Deleting your account is one button at the bottom of the Account screen: Request account deletion. You confirm once, the request reaches the team, and you are signed out immediately. The data is removed within 30 days.

Cancel the subscription first

The deletion request is a request to the team, not a Stripe operation, so it does not touch an active subscription. If you are on Unlimited, cancel it from Manage Billing on the Subscription screen before you ask for the deletion, or it keeps renewing. Cancelling on its own is enough if all you want is to stop paying: the account drops back to the free plan and keeps working, within the free plan limits. See billing, currencies and switching plans.

What the button does

You are asked to confirm in a dialog that says the request will be processed by the team. Submitting it signs you out and returns you to the login page. There is no undo step in the product, so if you change your mind, say so before the request is processed.

What happens to your data

DataWhat happens to it
Account dataKept while the account exists, removed within 30 days of deletion
Payment recordsKept as long as tax and accounting law requires
Usage data used for analyticsKept for up to 24 months

The full statement, including the rights you can exercise without deleting anything, is in the privacy policy. You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or a portable export by writing to the address listed there, and none of those require closing the account.

Lighter options

Most of the reasons people delete an account are solved by something smaller:

  • Too many emails. Every kind has its own switch, and every email unsubscribes in one click. See the emails Applyra sends, and how to stop them.
  • Paying for more than you use. Cancelling drops you back to the permanent free plan. Anything above the free plan limits is removed within 24 hours unless you resubscribe, so trim down to what you want to keep before the subscription ends. See what each plan includes.
  • Nothing is updating any more. A free account that has not been opened for a while pauses its own tracking, and one button restarts it. See my tracking paused after a period of inactivity.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my Applyra account?

Open the Account screen, scroll to the bottom and use Request account deletion. You confirm once in a dialog, the request reaches the team, and you are signed out straight away.

Does deleting my Applyra account cancel my subscription?

No. The deletion request does not go through Stripe, so cancel the subscription from Manage Billing on the Subscription screen first, otherwise it keeps renewing.

How long does Applyra keep my data after deletion?

Applyra removes the data within 30 days of the account being deleted. Payment records are kept longer where tax and accounting law requires it.
