Why Applyra shows a different number from the store
Applyra and the store disagree for three reasons: a different market, a number captured earlier in the day, or the two stores counting different things.
Three things explain almost every difference: you are looking at a different market from the one Applyra measured, the number was captured earlier in the day, or the two stores publish different quantities under the same word. None of the three is a fault on either side, and all three are worth checking before anything else.
You are not searching the same market
Every number in Applyra belongs to one store, one country and one language. Your phone searches the storefront your account belongs to, in your own language, which is frequently not the market you are tracking. Two keyword results from two different storefronts are simply two different results, and neither is wrong.
This is the single most common cause, and it is also why a market is part of the app in Applyra rather than a filter on top of it. See markets.
It is a snapshot, not a live reading
Positions are refreshed every day, and what you see in the tracker is what the store returned when that day's reading was taken. Search the same term yourself in the evening and you are holding a live result up against the day's measurement. Store results move between the two.
That is a deliberate trade. A daily measurement is comparable with yesterday's, which is what makes a trend readable, and a live reading would not be. See how ranking data is collected.
Listing data follows the same rhythm: titles, screenshots and icons are refreshed every day, so a change you publish today shows up in Applyra the next one. That is also what makes release history a clean timeline rather than a stream.
Ratings and reviews are not the same number
This one is not a delay, it is the stores disagreeing with each other.
| Store | What the count actually is |
|---|---|
| App Store | The rating count for that storefront |
| Google Play | The written review count for that storefront, which runs well below the rating count |
Google Play publishes no rating count per country at all, only the score, so a per-market rating total does not exist to be shown. The practical consequence: an App Store number and a Google Play number under the same label are not comparable with each other. Each one is comparable with itself over time, and that is the comparison worth making.
What is not a difference
A keyword with no position is not a missing number. It means your app was outside the top 100 for that term in that market, which is a result. That case has its own page: why my app is not ranking for a keyword I track.
A score that moved without you touching anything is also expected, and why my visibility score moved when I changed nothing covers why.
If it still does not line up
Check the market first, then the time of day, then whether the two numbers are actually the same quantity. That order resolves it. If you want a second look at a particular case, tell us with the app, the market and the keyword: that is enough to reproduce your reading exactly.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Applyra show a different rank from what I see in the App Store?
Usually because your own search ran in a different market, or at a different moment in the day. Applyra measures one store, one country and one language, once a day, and reports exactly what the store returned.
Why is the review count in Applyra different from the store page?
Because the two stores do not publish the same quantity. On the App Store the number is the rating count for that storefront. On Google Play it is the written review count, which is a fraction of the ratings, and Google Play publishes no rating count per country at all.
Can I compare an App Store review count with a Google Play one?
Not directly. They are different quantities under the same word, so a cross-store comparison of review counts compares two things that were never the same. Compare each store against itself over time instead.
